Early in the morning, the rain was pouring, but by the time we had breakfast of strong Irish tea, muesli and yoghurt the rain had stopped. So off we set, stopping to buy a fresh loaf of Irish soda bread that we have all grown to love. It has a satisfying crunch, but produces a lot of crumbs. The scenery was very varied and would have been grand except for the complete soaking we received in the middle of the day. Alas we were in an exposed area, the lashing rain was actually painful at times. Luckily out of nowhere a cafe appeared and in we walked looking like drowned rats. There were walkers already enjoying hot beverages in the tiny place. One of them was Barry from Ohio, who kindly loaned me one of his walking poles when he heard me complain about my aching left knee after our first day in Camp.
The rest of the afternoon was just sprinkles and we walked into dingle in the late afternoon. I'm excited about a lovely yarn shop that sells Irish Aran tweed and will be paying it a visit in the morning.
Here are a few of the many wild flowers that grow in the hedgerows.
Yellow iris, which reminds me, yesterday we walked by the 5 mile stretch of inch beach, the longest beach in Ireland and the place where Coldplay filmed yellow, check it out on YouTube.
More tomorrow.
